LTO Speed: Admiralty Arch 78 Justice Frederick 66 Thora Barber 66

ADMIRALTY ARCH stayed on strongly when landing a six furlong maiden at York last month, while at the same time managing to generate a list-topping speed rating of 78. A lightly raced juvenile son of Archipenko, out of a mare by In The Wings, the colt is bred to stay every yard of today's seven furlong trip, and to handle the testing underfoot conditions. Generally available at odds of 14-1 at the time of writing, we can even spread the risk a little and back him each-way.

LTO Speed: Pacify 116 Revolutionist 112 Maleficent Queen 103

PACIFY (nap) has been knocking loudly on the door of late, with his last time out second to Nayel at York earning him a career-best speed rating of 116. The gelding also has ticks in the important boxes marked track type (stiff/galloping) trip and ground. A consistent 4yo son of Paco Boy, there seems little reason why he won't give supporters another big run for their money this afternoon, while the fitting of a first-time visor could help give him a winning edge. Generally available odds of 8-1 must be seen as yet another positive.

LTO Speed: Beautiful Romance 101 Exosphere 99 Almodovar 98

SIMPLE VERSE has yet to hit full stride this season, but catches the eye with a list-topping speed rating of 127, and the fact that she won a Group 1 contest over this track and trip last season. With so many of the major angles covered, I'm going to suggest that this forecast 10-1 shot will be hard to keep out of the frame today, and that she could even win the race if firing on all cylinders. One to watch out for in the live market, that's for sure.

LTO Speed: Magical Memory 120 Suedois 119 Twilight Son 112

TWILIGHT SON failed to get competitive on his return at York last month, but his staying of fifth to Magical Memory was still good enough to earn him a respectable speed rating of 112. Top on the mast speed list with a figure of 125, generated when runner-up to Muhaarar in a Group 1 contest over this track and trip last October, the selection isn't lacking in winning angles, especially when we throw in his ability to act on rain softened ground. Ultra consistent when fully wound up, he will do for me at his best odds of 9-2 with Boyle Sports.

LTO Speed: Mr Lupton 115 Huntsmans Close 112 B Fifty Two 112

An almost impossible handicap to sort out on the clock, especially with two of the three top-rated horses having 'reserve' status. Looking a little further down the list, it is HUNTSMANS CLOSE who catches the eye, courtesy of his promoted second to Go Far at Goodwood four weeks ago. Sure to come on for only his second outing of the season, I can see this gelding going well under today's conditions, while his best odds of 16-1 make him a decent each-way play.

I hope you have got plenty of money in your pocket, because trying to get out in this race, from a speed perspective at least, is likely to be very difficult! The best I can advise is a modest play on CLONDAW WARRIOR, who rates prominent on the clock, stays marathon distances well enough, acts on soft ground, and has been in good form over hurdles of late. Has more than a touch of class too. Now that I've written all that down, I think I've probably unearthed a pretty good bet!
