Saeed bin Suroor Stable Tour
17 Aug 2021

Saeed Bin Suroor enters Ebor Festival week with his horses in just the sort of form he would have wished with six winners from 20 runners in the past fortnight and remarkable 30 per cent strike.

Long established in the training ranks, Saeed's mainstay of glory could well be in the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap on Saturday where the progressive Live Your Dream looks to strike gold again after an impressive recent success over a mile and six furlongs at Newmarket.

The current total of 34 winners should soon be swelled considerably with several autumn types waiting in the wings and the affable trainer should soon be competing for his share of Group races both in the UK and abroad before setting off in search of Dubai Carnival victories in the winter.

Saeed kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his hopes for his team that are currently housed in their summer base at Godolphin Stables in Newmarket's Snailwell Road.

7 b h Dubawi - Nahrain
Winner of ten of his 22 starts and currently rated 121. Highly creditable third, beaten a length, to Kameko in the Group 2 Joel Stakes at Newmarket (1m) last September when last seen out.
Benbatl didn't go to Dubai this year but he's galloping well at home and appears in great form. There are possible Group entries for him at Goodwood and Windsor at the end of this month, the Group 2 Celebration Mile and Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes respectively. Later on, we may look at races in Germany and on Champions Day at Ascot.

6 b g Street Cry - Short Skirt
Winner of five of his 23 starts and currently rated 102. Returned to winning form when beating Makram a neck in a handicap at Newmarket (1m 4f) this month off a mark of 100.
A big strong gelding by Street Cry, he came up short in Group 2 company on his last run in Dubai but until then has been consistent in decent handicaps and won the Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy. After a couple of disappointing runs he seems to be getting back to somewhere near his best after a nice performance to land a Newmarket handicap at the beginning of the month. There are plenty of options for another handicap for him and a trip to Dubai will be on the cards thereafter.

Winner of four of his 14 starts and currently rated 112. Finished fifth, beaten five lengths, to Mishriff in the Group 1 Sheema Classic at Meydan (1m 4f) in March on his latest start.
He had a particularly strong Carnival in Dubai, a lovely natured consistent type who has risen to a lofty mark of 112. He has had a long break and is now back in full work and we will look for something like the Listed Sri Lanka August Stakes at Windsor at the end of the month as a starting point, but all roads will lead to Dubai.

Winner of four of his 12 starts and currently rated 111. Finished fifth, beaten five and a half lengths, to Lord North in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup at Meydan (1m 1f) in March when last seen out.
He won the Group 2 Al Fahidi Fort at Meydan in January before going on to run a creditable fifth in the Turf Sprint in Saudi. He then took his place in the Dubai Turf on World Cup night running well to finish fifth again. Having had a break over the summer we will look to something like the Group 2 Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards Challenge on October 8 as a starting point for him.

Winner of both of his starts and currently rated 102. Having his first race for two years when beating Valiant Prince a length and three quarters in a novice event at Kempton (1m) this month.
A lovely horse who despite plenty of setbacks made his return to the track a winning one in good fashion. He was subsequently handed a mark of 102 and we could look to some nice handicaps or Listed races for him. As a five-year-old with only two starts under his belt and coming off a long layoff we'd hope there is more improvement to come.

Winner of five of his 10 starts and currently rated 112. Completed a hat-trick when beating Euchen Glen a neck in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood (1m 4f) in July.
A horse who has gone from strength to strength this season rising from a mark of 90 to 112. He is three from three since returning to Newmarket winning a nice handicap off topweight at Ascot before going onto win the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood where he made all the running. He will have an entry in the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor, the Group 3 September Stakes at Kempton and the Group 1 Grosser Preis Von Baden in September could be another option before returning to Dubai for the winter.

Winner of two of his 16 starts and currently rated 104. Probably best effort this year when eighth, beaten four and a half lengths, to Lord Glitters in the Group 1 Jebel Hatta at Meydan (1m 1f) in March.
Royal Marine is something of a frustrating character, a Group 1 winner as a two-year-old, he has struggled to recapture the same level of form on the track since. He is a horse who has had a long break following Dubai and is working extremely well at present. We are training him with the Cambridgeshire in mind and, if he puts his best foot forward, he can be extremely competitive even off a long break.

Finished fourth, beaten five and a half lengths, to Musical Morning on his debut at Yarmouth (1m) in June off last year.
A horse that has promised on a few occasions at home to be above average, has had his setbacks and managed to get to the racetrack once as a three-year-old. He is in full work at present and getting close to make his reappearance and, hopefully, will soon be making up for lost time.

Winner of three of her 21 starts and currently rated 103. Best effort this year when runner-up, beaten half a length, to Extravagant Kid in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan (6f) in March.
This mare has slowly progressed from finishing fourth in a 1000 Guineas, third in a Saudi Derby to winning races on both turf and the dirt in Dubai over various trips. She is a tough, super competitive filly who has now cemented her prefence for six furlongs. Ove this trip she won the Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint and finished an excellent second in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint. A couple of runs back in the UK on ground that was softer than ideal can be disregarded and we hope to see her back to her best at Meydan this winter.

Winner of four of his 7 starts and currently rated 101. Winner of three of his four races this season and impressed when beating Global Storm three quarters of a length off a mark of 94 on his most recent start at Newmarket (1m 6f) in July.
A horse we think a lot of, he won on his reappearance at Newcastle at the end of April and continued to improve, most recently winning the bet365 Trophy at Newmarket in July. He is three out of four this year and is a solid candidate for this year's Ebor for which he is a worthy favourite with some bookmakers. We see him only improving further with age.

Winner of two of his 4 starts and currently rated 111. Finished eighth, beaten 11 1/2 lengths, to Lord Glitters in the Group 2 Singspiel Stakes at Meydan (1m 1f) in January when last seen out.
He has only run once in Dubai since finishing fourth in last year's 2000 Guineas where unfortunately he had a slight setback. He is a horse we hold in high regard and although his races at present are sporadic, we're sure that patience in the long term will pay dividends. We aren't ruling out one run at the very backend of the UK season with the Dubai Carnival and option thereafter.

Winner of one of his 3 starts and currently rated 87. Off the mark with a three and half length victory from Fantalope at Chelmsford (1m 2f) in July.
A horse who was late to make his debut due to a couple of setbacks, he has shown good promise winning on his second start. American-bred, he will improve with racing and is an ideal horse to try on the dirt in Dubai. He will run at Newcastle on August 20 where he will set about raising his mark to be eligible for the Dubai Carnival.

A winner this season over both five and six furlongs, sprinting is his game. He's a horse with a lot of talent but needs things to go his way. It was great to see what happen again at Chelmsford where he made all the running to give him a fourth career win taking him up to a mark of 100.

Winner of three of his 7 starts and currently rated 116. Rapidly improving colt who hacked up by four and three quarter lengths from Astro King in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot (1m) in June off a mark of 94 and followed up in excellent style by a length and a quarter from Derab in a listed event at Newbury (1m 2f) in July.
A big strong colt, he improved beyond recognition when returning from Dubai and getting on turf. His impressive Royal Ascot win in the Royal Hunt Cup was followed up by his listed win at Newbury in the Steventon Stakes. Unfortunately ground took him out of his first appearance in Group company at Haydock earlier this month so we look to the Group 3 Strensall Stakes at York next for him. He's an exciting horse to have in the yard this season

Winner of three of his 6 starts and currently rated 101. Scored by two and a quarter lengths from Strawberry Road on his latest start at Newmarket (1m 4f) in July off a mark of 95.
This son of Teofilo has been progressing nicely this season, drawing a line under his Royal Ascot run where he finished lame. He was back to winning ways in comprehensive fashion at Newmarket at the end of July going up to a mark of 101. We hope he can get into the Ebor - he is a horse who still has some maturing to do.

Winner of four of her 8 starts and currently rated 108. Gained her last success when scoring by seven lengths from Mnasek in the UAE 1000 Guineas at Meydan (1m) at the end of January.
A tough uncomplicated filly, she is a consistent type and took to the dirt well in Dubai winning both the 1000 Guineas Trial and the 1000 Guineas. She went to Saudi to take on the boys in the Derby and ran a respectable fifth. She has had a long break and is currently doing very well in full work. Storm Damage has won three of his four starts and is now rated 108. He can be keen in his races but is an otherwise uncomplicated horse and one we very look forward to seeing how he progresses. Next for him may be the Cambridgeshire or a listed race and, having dominated small field on his last two starts, the Cambridgeshire would be a different challenge for him but one we think he can take in his stride.

Winner of one of his 5 starts and currently rated 86. Gained a deserved victory in a maiden at Chelmsford (6f) last week when scoring by a length and a quarter from Harb.
Unlucky when touched off on his first two tries over six furlongs, he got off the mark at Chelmsford a few days ago which will hopefully give his confidence a boost and he can continue to improve. He is a horse we have had in mind for the Doncaster Sales race ever since his first run. We can see him being competitive in that - he is a tough little horse who we're sure will now go from strength to strength.

A since son of Iffraaj who was ready to run in July before getting sore shins. Back in full training now, he is showing all the right signs and we hope to run in the coming weeks.

Finished third, beaten half a length, to Sunstrike on her debut at Kempton (6f) in June.
She was one of our more precocious types who managed to run in early June where she ran well to finish third. She was one we had considered for Royal Ascot before she unfortunately suffered a little setback, but she seems to be over that now. She is a nice type who will improve with age.

He was all set to make his debut at Leicester but unfortunately stood on a nail down at the start and was unable to run. He's a horse we have always liked and, back in work now, he has done well physically for the break. He is one of the nicer types we have.

Beautiful Secret
Just touched off on her debut at Doncaster last week and going one better should be a formality.

Benbatl
Class act who is working well at home and could well return in triumph after a long break from action.

Another who has been give plenty of time off and could be an Autumn money-spinner.

Live Your Dream
Favourite for the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap and looked to have plenty more in the tank when an impressive winner at Newmarket in July.

Mutafawwig
Winner of both of his starts with a two-year break in between and can progress further.

Very much on the upgrade and looks well capable of making his mark in Group company.
